At Evarts Tremaine, we like to spotlight our team members to give an inside look at their everyday routines.

This month, we are highlighting Emily Taylor. Emily is an Account Manager within our Commercial Insurance Division, with a specialized focus on the Auto Service Franchise Program.

What does a typical day look like for you?

team-emily-taylorMy typical day starts off by going through our prioritized lists, responding to client emails as well as taking phone calls or returning voicemails. Throughout the day I am working on anything from new business submissions sent in from our agents, processing changes for clients on policies, issuing ID cards, sending out certificates for clients as well as working with billing when clients have questions. I typically will work on a variety of things on any given day.

For new business submissions, I market the account to our respective insurance carriers. Working mainly in our auto service garage program, I see different garages from all over the country, making sure that they have the proper coverage for their property as well as their customers cars while working on them. Outside of the auto service program, I have worked on accounts ranging from pest control, food processing, salons, and contractors. It varies everyday so it keeps it interesting seeing what new businesses are starting up here locally. We want to make sure that our clients have the proper coverage for their business.

How did you get started in the insurance industry?

When I had moved back to the Cleveland area after four years in Florida, I realized I needed to find a job. I actually had started in the health insurance agency, where I worked as an extension for outside business’s HR department for employee benefits. I made the move the Property & Casualty side of insurance after a year and a half. May 1st will mark 3 years with Evarts Tremaine.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Knowing that we provide the proper coverage and tailor policies based on the nature of the business for our clients.

When you are not working, what are your favorite hobbies?

During the week you can find me in the gym before work.  When I am not in the office, you can find me on the golf course making birdies. Being able to enjoy the weather and play a quick 18 is how I like to spend my weekends.

What is one thing you would like people to know about the insurance industry?

Having worked on both the health insurance side as well as the property & casualty side you learn and see the importance of insurance and why you need to make sure you are carrying the proper amounts of coverage.
